Mike Tyson, born Michael Gerard Tyson shot to stardom in the boxing world. Probably the reason why he is so popular is h is projection of a bad boy image in the ring. Not to mention biting off a portion of his opponent’s ears. Mike Tyson was a champion boxer in the 80s and 90s.

Controversy never left him when he was accused of raping Robin Given in the 90s. Now, he is a retired boxer but was the undisputed heavyweight champion and still remains to be the youngest to win heavyweight titles. Moreover, he is ranked by ESPN as the number one Most Outrageous Character in the modern history of sports and has appeared in several popular media in either cameo appearances or as a subject of satire or parody.

In 1988, he became the lineal champion when he knocked out Michael Spinks in only several seconds of the fight. He then successfully defended the world heavyweight champion nine times which includes victory over Frank Bruno and Larry Holmes. He lost his titles to underdog James Douglas on Feb. 11, 1990 in   Japan. He was convicted of raping Desire Washington in 1992 and was sentenced to six years imprisonment but was released after three years.
